Retainers

Essix Clear Retainer Bonded Retainer Types of Retainers

You've put in the effort to achieve your beautiful smile—now it’s time to keep it that way! After the excitement of having your braces removed, you’re left with a straight, gorgeous, and metal-free smile. But your orthodontic journey isn’t over just yet.

To maintain those amazing results, wearing a retainer is essential. Retainers help preserve your teeth's new alignment and prevent any shifting, allowing the gums, bone, and muscles to adapt to their new positions.

Why Do We Wear Retainers

We wear retainers to maintain the results of orthodontic treatment and prevent teeth from shifting back to their original positions. After braces or clear aligner treatment, your teeth and gums need time to stabilize and adjust to their new alignment.

Here are some key reasons why retainers are necessary:

  1. Prevent Teeth Shifting: Teeth can drift back toward old positions—especially right after treatment.
  2. Stabilize New Alignment: Retainers give bone and soft tissue time to adapt and hold new positions.
  3. Maintain Bite and Smile: Retainers help preserve the precise bite achieved during treatment.
  4. Protect Long-Term Results: Even years later, retainers prevent subtle shifts and maintain your smile.

How Long Do You Need To Wear Retainers

At Daly Orthodontics, we recommend full-time retainer wear for the first 3 months after treatment is complete. After 3 months, switch to nighttime wear for life to guarantee your teeth don’t shift.

Retainer Membership Club

We understand that life happens—and sometimes you lose or break retainers. That’s why we offer a Retainer Membership program: your built-in retainer insurance.

If you lose or break your retainers, you’ll be able to get replacements at minimal cost. You can join at the start of treatment and include it in your monthly payment plan. Didn’t join early on? No problem—you can opt in at any time!
