How Braces Work and the Process

Braces are a proven and effective solution for enhancing your smile and fixing bite issues. They can be used by children, teens, and adults to straighten teeth and improve overall dental health. The treatment involves bonding brackets to your teeth and connecting them with a wire, which gently applies pressure to gradually shift your teeth into place. As the teeth move, the wire is adjusted periodically to keep the process on track toward your final results.

The journey begins with a free consultation with Dr. Daly, where you’ll discuss your treatment options in detail. During this visit, she will create a customized plan based on your unique needs. The process of placing your braces is quick and usually takes about an hour. You’ll return approximately every 6 weeks for adjustments.

On average, braces treatment takes anywhere from 6 to 30 months depending on your needs.

Who Can Benefit from Braces?

Braces are suitable for individuals of all ages. Whether your child is starting early orthodontic treatment, your teen is ready for their first round of braces, or you’re an adult seeking to improve your smile, braces are a versatile option.

In some cases, braces may be a more effective solution than Invisalign, especially for certain types of tooth movement. For those who prefer a more discreet appearance, clear braces are also available.
